About

I have many friends in different categories. My lifelong friends, girls I met when we were children. Girls who have known me and helped shape who I am. Then I have my college friends… the girls and guys I bonded with, when the times were tough, but oh so good. I have my friends I met through my kids play groups. Ladies I sat with on the side lines at the tball games, and during the hot days of summer at the kiddie pool.

I receive many emails and text messages wtih friendship poems. I figure it would be a good thing if I started saving the friendship poems and some of the notes my friends send me all in one place.

I have my online friends. The people I can turn to in the middle of the night when nobody else is awake to listen to me. Friends I can tell anything and everything… confess my faults… it’s so easy to be real, because we aren’t face to face.  Most of these poems relate to my online friends, but there are poems for my best friends in life.

I am advising a 75-year-old woman in Scotland about the private publication of a short memoir for her children and grandchildren. She wants to include poem by Emily Matthews. The web has lots of quotes and verses by Matthews, but I can’t find a biographical source, or somewhere I can obtain copyright permission.
Can you tell me anything about Emily Matthews which will allow me to request permission to include the poem ‘Just a little hug’ in this short memoir.
    Many thanks, Paul Gunnion
